26 December 2006:
The Cruck Cottage, Torthorwald, dates from about the middle of the 18th century, and is the last remaining example of a method of construction which would have been common at that time. The cottage has been completely restored to its former glory, and has been fully furnished in great detail with genuine Victorian furniture and artefacts, to reflect that period in its life. It can be visited at any time of the year - a list of keyholders is displayed at the cottage. For further details, please contact the Cruck Cottage Heritage Association on 01387750202, or email: bill.lawson@onetel.com.
