West Dunbartonshire

A local government area in central Scotland, West Dunbartonshire extends to 176 sq. km (68 sq. miles) and lies to the northwest of Glasgow between Loch Lomond and the River Clyde. Formerly comprising the districts of Dumbarton and Clydebank, its chief settlements are Dumbarton (the administrative centre), Alexandria, Balloch and Bonhill which lie in the Vale of Leven and Clydebank, Old Kilpatrick and Bowling which lie on the northwestern periphery of Greater Glasgow. The River Leven flows south from Loch Lomond to the Clyde and the Kilpatrick Hills rise in a series of lava flows to the north of Old Kilpatrick. The Erskine Bridges spans the River Clyde linking West Dunbartonshire to Renfrewshire and in the north is the southwestern tip of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
