Barr

The name Barr comes from the Gaelic for "hill-top dweller". There are a number of villages called Barr and Barr Castle is in East Ayrshire. Famous individuals with the name include engineer author Robert Barr (1849 - 1912), Archibald Barr (1855 - 1931) and soft-drinks entrepreneur Andrew G. Barr (1872 - 1903).
