A surname of Norman origin, meaning a weaver, in Scotland said to be associated with the Clan MacFarlane. Notable members of the family are churchman Alexander Webster (1708-84), stained-glass artist Alfred Webster (1883 - 1915) and Scots-Canadian journalist Jack Webster (1918-99).
