Kinnaird House

A mansion and 3644 ha (9000-acre) estate located in Strathtay, Kinnaird House overlooks the River Tay 1½ miles (2.5 km) south of Ballinluig in N Central Perth and Kinross. The house was built as a compact classical mansion c.1770 and served as the dower house for the Dukes of Atholl at Blair Castle. It was significantly extended in 1840, again c.1900 and 1928-9, following its purchase by the Ward family. Internally the house is predominantly Edwardian, although the Drawing Room features delicate arabesques and Highland scenes executed c.1870. The house was renovated in 1990 and now operates as an exclusive hotel; offering just nine bedrooms, grand public rooms and a fine restaurant. The estate includes farmland, forest and moorland, together with three lochs, which provides visitors with fishing.
