Black Loch

A reservoir in the extreme south of Falkirk Council Area, adjacent to North Lanarkshire and not far from its boundary with West Lothian, Black Loch lies just to the south of Limerigg and 2 miles (3 km) south of Slamannan. It is now the source of the North Calder Water, but supplied water to the Monkland Canal and Forth and Clyde Canal, along with the larger Hillend Reservoir, located 2 miles (3 km) to the southwest. By the 1930s, Black Loch was owned by the London, Midland & Scottish Railway company.
