A wide sandy bay which extends 5 miles (8 km) north northeast from the outflow of the River South Esk at Montrose beyond the mouth of the North Esk, to St Cyrus. Fringed by sand-dunes, the Links of Montrose lie at southern end, while the St. Cyrus National Nature Reserve lies at the north.
