The Water of Leith flowing under the Slateford Aqueduct and Viaduct, Edinburgh

Located on Lanark Road in the southwest of Edinburgh, beneath the Slateford Aqueduct on the Union Canal, the Water of Leith Conservation Trust Headquarters is housed in a former school building. The conversion was undertaken by Malcolm Fraser Architects. The associated visitor centre, which opened in 2000, includes a video presentation, together with interactive and educational displays on the history, wildlife, management and current use of the Water of Leith. Information is available on the flora and fauna associated with the river and the working life of the river is portrayed through photographs and an exhibit of a mill and lade.
