One of a line of low hills in E Dumfries and Galloway, Barrs Hill (occasionally Barr Hill or Barr's Hill) rises to 218m (715 feet) a miles (1.5 km) northeast of Amisfield and 4 miles (6.5 km) west of Lochmaben. On its summit is an Iron-Age hill-fort, within three substantial concentric oval ramparts.
