Brown Carrick Hill

An elongated hill of South Ayrshire, with several summits, Brown Carrick Hill rises to 287m (944 feet) 1½ miles (2.5 km) east of Dunure. This principal summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey primary triangulation pillar installed in 1936. It overlooks the Heads of Ayr to the north and the Firth of Clyde to the north and west. A subsidiary summit reaches 279m (915 feet) a half-mile (0.8 km) to the east northeast is crowned by police transmitter masts. Further to the east northeast is a another summit reaching around 200m (656 feet) with a viewpoint giving vistas across the Doon Valley, Alloway and the town of Ayr, 3 miles (5 km) to the northeast.
