Melgam Water

A river of W Angus, formed of two parts, the Melgam Water is a continuation of the Back Water which issues from the Backwater Reservoir. It becomes the Melgam Water at Dykend and flows southeast to enter the Loch of Lintrathen after 2 miles (3 km). It leaves the loch and flows southeast through Bridgend of Lintrathen. It then turns south and finally southwest at Kenny, receiving the Cromie Burn. Three miles (5 km) after leaving the loch the Melgam Water joins the River Isla near Airlie Castle. The Loups of Kenny are the better known of three sets of waterfalls on the lower stretch of this river.
