Muckle Skerry

The largest of the skerries of the Pentland Firth, Muckle Skerry is an islet with three lochans and a rectangular-shaped northern promontory known as the 'Tennis Court'. From a landing point in Scartan Bay a road leads towards the lighthouse built in 1794 and automated two centuries later in 1994. Now uninhabited, the islet had a population of 17 in 1881.
