Balmossie Halt


(Balmossie Railway Station; Baile Mosaidh)

A railway station on the East Coast mainline railway between Dundee and Aberdeen, Balmossie Halt (Gael: Baile Mosaidh) is located just within the Angus Council Area, on its border with Dundee City, a mile (1.5 km) west of Monifieth and 1¼ miles (2 km) east northeast of Broughty Ferry. The station opened by British Rail in 1962 to service the growing suburban population of Barnhill, although was used by only 804 passengers in 2009-10. It is unstaffed and operated by ScotRail.
