Tormain Hill

Tormain Hill is located a quarter-mile (0.5 km) east of Bonnington Mains and ¾ mile (1.2 km) southwest of Ratho in the SW of the City of Edinburgh Council Area. Rising to a height of 147m (482 feet), there is a gradual approach from the west with a steeper eastern side. A collection of markings on a rock outcrop within a woodland strip that runs over the summit are of archaeological importance. These comprising plain cups, cups with rings, concentric circles and gutters. The rock markings can all be found within an area measuring 14m (45 feet) by 6m (19 feet) and whilst most are readily visible, some may be obscured by moss and lichen growth.
