Kelvindale

A desirable district of N Glasgow, Kelvindale lies on the right bank of the River Kelvin between Anniesland and Maryhill, 3 miles (5 km) northwest of the city centre. Much of the housing comprises semi-detached two-storey properties build in the 1930s on a steeply sloping site, which represents one of Glasgow's drumlins. The area is served by primary and secondary schools, and is the location of the private Glasgow Nuffield Hospital, founded in 1973. A new railway station opened at Kelvindale in 2005, taking commuters on a revitalised section of line into Queen Street Station. This station lies to the north of the Forth & Clyde Canal which skirts around the north of Kelvindale.
