Perth Crematorium

Set in parkland just within the A9 Perth bypass, 2 miles (3 km) northwest of the city centre, Perth Crematorium is located in the Tulloch district and is accessed from Crieff Road. Opening in 1962, the facility now undertakes 1100 cremations per annum (2009). Faced in Fyfestone (blocks made from crushed Aberdeenshire granite), the building is modern in style, with canopies to the north and south to receive a hearse. It was the work of Perth Deputy Burgh Surveyor George Stewart, with the foundation stone laid by John Buchan, Lord Provost of Perth, on 3rd July 1957.

Stained glass windows are by Alexander L. Russell, while memorials situated close to the entrance commemorate the deceased around walls and on seats. Ashes can be scattered in the parkland surrounding the crematorium, and markers indicate the names of the deceased. A formal cemetery and Garden of Remembrance is available for the burial of ashes, and Books of Remembrance are displayed within the crematorium itself.

The crematorium is still owned and operated by Perth and Kinross Council.
