Braepark

An affluent suburb of NW Edinburgh, Braepark lies on the right bank of the River Almond, immediately to the west of Barnton and a mile (1.5 km) south of Cramond Village. The suburb occupies much of the former Braehead Estate belonged to the Houison (Howison or Howieson) family, having been gifted to them by James V who was saved from robbers by a member of the family. Located at the end of Braehead Drive, Braehead House dates from c.1700.
