Ballinbreich Castle

The ruined remains of Ballinbreich Castle, a former stronghold of the Leslies, lies between Newburgh and Balmerino in N Fife, overlooking the Firth of Tay. A three-storey L-plan castle with a rectangular courtyard enclosed by curtain wall, it was built in the 14th century, altered in the 15th century and extended in the 16th century. On the second floor the remains of a chapel, with a piscina and sedilia, can be seen.
