An area of low-lying land within a loop of the River Esk, Shire Haugh is located a half-mile (1 km) south of Musselburgh and is overlooked from the opposite bank of the river by Inveresk. Much of the area is occupied by Musselburgh (Monktonhall) Golf Course.
