Merry Men of Mey

The Merry Men of Mey is a tidal race which forms off St John's Point in Caithness, and rocks known as the Men of Mey. The race can extend across the width of the Pentland Firth. The water is said to boil like a cauldron and waves can descend unpredictably from all directions, making it dangerous for mariners.
