Campbeltown Airport
(Machrihanish Airport)

An airport serving the Kintyre peninsula, Campbeltown or Machrihanish Airport is situated 2 miles (3 km) northwest of Campbeltown. It is operated by the government-owned Highland and Islands Airports Limited and has the International Air Transport Association (IATA) location code "CAL". Scheduled flights operate to Glasgow.

The airport makes use of a single runway which, at 3049m (10,000 feet), which was for many years the longest in Europe and remains the longest in Scotland. This was constructed as part of the neighbouring air force base, RAF Machrihanish, which was a UK and NATO military base until 1997. That base is now closed.
