Lerwick Airport
(Tingwall Airport)

Located on the A971 road, a half-mile (0.8 km) northwest of Veensgarth and 4 miles (6.5 km) northwest of Lerwick, Lerwick Airport opened in 1976, replacing a grass strip nearby. The airfield is owned and operated by the Shetland Islands Council. It has the International Air Transport Association (IATA) location code "LWK". It is also known as Tingwall Airport and comprises a single asphalt runway, 764m (2506 feet) in length, with a small terminal, service buildings and an aircraft hangar. Scheduled inter-island flights operate from here to Fair Isle, Foula, Out Skerries (occasionally via Whalsay) and Papa Stour, with emergency flights to other islands.
