Ruvaal
(Rhuvaal, Rubh' a' Mhail)
A remote headland at the northern tip of Islay in Argyll and Bute, Ruvaal (also Rhuvaal, Gael: Rubh' a' Mhail) lies 6 miles (10 km) north of Port Askaig. A lighthouse here was established in 1859, built by engineering brothers David & Thomas Stevenson (1815-86 and 1818-87).
