Mains Castle

A fortified house built in 1550 by Sir David Graham whose family owned the castle until the early 19th Century. Overlooking a ravine and wooded den through which flows the Gelly Burn, Mains Castle is now situated in the Caird Park which lies to the north of Kingsway on the northeastern outskirts of Dundee. On the opposite side of the burn is the old graveyard of Mains with the Graham family mausoleum. There are footpaths through the park which also has 18- and 9-hole golf courses.
