RAF Lossiemouth

Established in 1939, RAF Lossiemouth is now one of the principal front-line station of the RAF and is famed for the search and rescue capabilities of the D Flight 202 Squadron (Sea Kings). It is situated 6 miles (10 km) north of Elgin. Once a station of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, it was handed over to the Royal Air Force in 1972. AS well as Sea Kings, Tornadoes of 12B, 14, XV (R) and 617 squadrons are based here.
