Cubbie Roo's Castle

Said to be the remains of the oldest stone castle in Scotland, Cubbie Roo's Castle stands on the small Orkney island of Wyre. It dates from the mid-12th Century and was probably the stronghold of the Norseman, Kolbein Hruga (Cubbie Roo) who is recorded in the Orkneyinga Saga as having a seat here.
