Rising dramatically out of the Atlantic to a height of 137m (450 feet), the Old Man of Hoy is a red sandstone stack that has been separated by the erosive power of wind and wave from the northwest coast of the Orkney island of Hoy. It lies to the north of Rora Head and is one of Scotland's most noted landmarks as well as representing a challenge for rock climbers.
