Stones of StennessSituated on the southeast shore of the Loch of Stenness on Mainland Orkney, the Stones of Stenness form a prehistoric monument probably constructed in the early third millennium BC. Surrounded by a ditch, there were 12 stones in the original plan.
The Stones are recognised as part of the Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, designated in 1999.
