East Burra
(House Island)

An island situated to the west of the south Mainland of Shetland from which it is separated by the Clift Sound. Linked to West Burra by a road bridge, the island has an area of 515 ha (1273 acres). The population is recorded as 92 (1961), 64 (1971), 78 (1981), 72 (1991) and 66 (2001).
