A modest summit of E Aberdeenshire, the Hill of Auchlee rises to 153m (501 feet) 2 miles (3 km) west northwest of Portlethen. At its summit is the C-listed Boswell's Monument, a circular tower in granite ashlar, with crown spire, built on an octagonal base and dating from 1862. On the slopes of the hill are four ring-cairns or stone circles.
