Built at the bottom of Oswald Street in Glasgow, the George V Bridge (sometimes King George V Bridge) links the area of Tradeston with the city centre. It was commissioned in 1914, but with delays due to the First World War it was not completed and opened until 1928. Despite its appearance as a fine masonry bridge, the bridge is actually built of reinforced concrete box girders, faced with Dalbeattie granite. Under the one way system favoured by the roads department of Glasgow Council, George V Bridge now acts as a feeder bridge into the city centre.
