Tenement House, The

The Tenement House sits at 145 Buccleuch Street in the Garnethill area of Glasgow, north of Sauchiehall Street and is unique in that it contains all the original fixtures and fittings of a late 19th / early 20th Century home. The tenement was built in 1893 and the was home to Miss Agnes Toward from 1911 until 1975. During this period the house remained almost unchanged, electric lighting was the only major change to the home. The house was sold to the National Trust for Scotland in 1982, who replaced the original gas lighting fittings and is now a museum of home life in industrial Glasgow.
