Glendevon Castle

Overlooking the River Devon, 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of the hamlet of Glendevon and 5 miles (8 km) south southeast of Auchterarder, the white-harled Glendevon Castle is an early 15th century tower house, later extended on a Z-plan and subsequently much-altered. The main block has square towers projecting to the northwest and southeast, only one reaching its original height. There is also a round stair-tower. Once a stronghold of the powerful Earls of Douglas, it passed to the Crawfords in the 16th century and the Rutherfords in the 18th century. The B-listed structure was used as a farmhouse in the 20th century and remains occupied.
