Dunagoil
A headland and ancient fort on the southwest coast of the Isle of Bute, Dunagoil forms the southern limit of Dunagoil Bay 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Garroch Head and 6 miles (10 km) south of Rothesay. A large vitrified fort occupies the headland, although in-part reoccupied after the fire which brought about the vitrification. It was excavated 1913-15 and this work revealed a series of finds dating from the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age and it has been suggested that the fort was occupied from approximately 200 BC until 100 AD.
