Langass Barp

Langass Barp (Gael: Barpa Langass) is a Neolithic chambered cairn dating from the 3rd Millennium BC, which now survives as a massive pile of stones located prominently on the northwestern slopes of Ben Langass in North Uist, close to the A867 road. Measuring 24.3m (80 feet) in diameter and 4.3m (14 feet) in height, the cairn was investigated c.1911 by the archaeologist Erskine Beveridge (1851 - 1920), who found evidence of burnt burials within.
