A wooded island in Loch Sween (Argyll and Bute), Eilean Loain is located 1½ miles (2.4 km) southeast of Tayvallich. The island is mostly composed of quartzite rock. The tree-cover is natural and the island extends to 16 ha (39.5 acres), reaching a height of 28m (92 feet) above sea level. There is a jetty on the sheltered northeast coast of the island and a substantial private house, although there is no permanent resident population.
