Innis Chonain

A wooded island within Loch Awe (Argyll and Bute), Innis Chonain is located 1¼ miles (2 km) southwest of the settlement of Lochawe and 2 miles (3 km) east southeast of Cruachan Power Station. The island was connected to the shore by a causeway in the mid-20th century, which gives access to residences. This should not be confused with Innis Chonnell, another island in the same loch which was a stronghold of the Campbells, 12 miles (19 km) to the southwest. Extending to 9.3 ha (23 acres) the island's population was recorded as 1 (2001) and 5 (2011).
