Tullibody Inch

A small, low-lying and uninhabited island in the River Forth, Tullibody Inch is located in Clackmannanshire 1¼ miles (2 km) west of Alloa and 1½ miles (2.5 km) south of Tullibody. Once forming useful farmland, subsidence due to nearby coal-mining caused the protective embankments to be breached, and the resulting saltmarsh now forms part of the most extensive reed-beds on the Forth. The island now forms part of the Alloa Inches Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), owned by the Scottish Wildlife Trust and managed as a reserve for waterfowl.
