Colsay
(Colsay Island)

An uninhabited island with a highly crenulated coastline, Colsay (occasionally Colsay Island) lies off the west coast of the South Mainland of Shetland, 1¼ miles (2 km) west northwest of Scousburgh. It provides shelter to the entrance to the Bay of Scousburgh and is separated from Fora Ness to the south by the Muckle Sound. Colsay rises to 44m (144 feet) in the southeast, a summit marked by an ancient cairn. The island has been identified as a local protection area.
