Hogganfield Loch

A small shallow loch in a park of the same name, Hogganfield Loch occupies a kettle-hole of glacial origin in NE Glasgow, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southwest of Millerston and a half-mile (1 km) north of Ruchazie. Hogganfield once supplied water to nearby mills but was deepened for boating in the 1920s after it was purchased by Glasgow Corporation. The loch contains a sizeable island and is noted for its bird life.
