Meall a' Bhuiridh

This mountain, rising to a height of 1108m (3635 feet) at the eastern end of Glencoe in Highland Council Area, is classified as a Munro. It is probably most famous for its northeastern corrie, Corrie Pollach, which has been one of Scotland's principal skiing centres since 1960 when chair lifts were installed. Ski tows now extend to a point midway between the true summit and a secondary summit which reaches 1087m (3566 feet) approximately 300m (1000 feet) to the east. Located southeast of the River Etive, Meall a' Bhuiridh, together with Creise, forms a horseshoe ridge over looking Rannoch Moor. The name Meall a' Bhuiridh is derived from Gaelic and is thought to mean "hill of the rutting stags".
