Gometra

Although technically not an island it is regarded as such by many locals. Attached to the island of Ulva by a short headland, it was used by the monks of Iona as their granary, providing all the grain for their community. Its population fell to 15 (1961), 10 (1971), 4 (1981) and it was uninhabited by the late 1980s. However a population of 5 was recorded in 2001. Gometra lies on the northwest coast of Ulva, an island to the west of Mull in Argyll and Bute.
