A small reservoir with an earth embankment dam in East Ayrshire, Craigendunton is located 5½ miles (9 km) north northeast of Galston (East Ayrshire) and 6 miles (10 km) south of Newton Mearns (East Renfrewshire). It is operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water and covers an area of 10.1 ha (24 acres). The reservoir supports a recreational fishery based on wild brown trout and stocked rainbow trout, managed by the Kilmarnock Angling Club.
