Cowgill Lower Reservoir

A small reservoir retained by an earth embankment dam in the E of South Lanarkshire, Cowgill Lower is located 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast of Lamington and 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Coulter. It is the source of the Cow Gill, a stream that flows north and east to join the Culter Water, while it receives the Eastside Burn from Cowgill Upper Reservoir, which lies a half-mile (1 km) to the south. It is operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water.
