A reservoir on the course of the Glengavel Water in South Lanarkshire, Glengavel is located 5 miles (8 km) north northwest of Muirkirk and 6 miles (10 km) east southeast of Darvel. Opened in 1898 for the supply of drinking-water and retained by an earth embankment dam, it is now operated by Scottish Water and covers an area of 28.1 ha (69 acres).
