North Third Reservoir

A reservoir in the Touch Hills of Stirling Council Area, North Third Reservoir is located a mile (1.5 km) west of Sauchieburn House and 2¼ miles (3.5 km) southwest of Cambusbarron. Built in 1911 by Grangemouth Town Council to supply drinking water to that town and in 1951 was providing 7.5 million litres (2 million gallons) per day. A filter system was constructed in 1931, including a now B-listed pump house. At the same time, a Bronze Age battle-axe was discovered, which is now housed in the Royal Museum in Edinburgh. The pump house became disused in 2000 and was sold in 2006. The reservoir supports a recreational trout fishery.
