Kaimhill
A small district of SW Aberdeen City, Kaimhill occupies an elevated position overlooking the River Dee, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west of the Bridge of Dee, adjacent the the larger district of Garthdee. There was once a preponderance of public housing, but most was sold to the tenants under right-to-buy legislation. Kaimhill benefits from a community centre, library, primary school, a retail park (with large supermarket) and an artificial ski-slope (Garthdee Sports & Alpine Adventure Park). Kaimhill was once the site of Aberdeen Crematorium (built 1937), with the buildings remaining in use as a Hall of Remembrance.
