Thorntonhall Station
A small unmanned station on the East Kilbride branch of the Glasgow South Western railway, Thorntonhall Station lies on Peel Road the western edge of Thorntonhall (South Lanarkshire). It lies a mile (1.5 km) southeast of Busby and 1½ miles (2.5 km) west northwest of Hairmyres Station. It opened in 1868 as a rural station on the Busby and East Kilbride branch of the Caledonian Railway, serving the mansion of Thorntonhall (now demolished). It is used by only 17,000 passengers per annum. The line here is single-track, becoming dualled between Busby to Glasgow Central.
