Kip Water

(Shaws Burn)

A river which descends from the Compensation Reservoir below Loch Thom in Inverclyde, the Kip Water follows a circuitous westerly course for 4 miles (6.5 km), to empty into the Inverkip Marina and thence into Inverkip Bay. It once provided the power for several flax mills and, in its upper reaches, was formerly known as the Shaws Burn.
