Balgay Hill

An elongated tree-covered hill in Dundee, Balgay Hill lies 2 miles (3 km) west northwest of the city centre and a half-mile (1 km) south of Lochee. The second highest of Dundee's hills, Balgay comprises two summits; an eastern summit rises to 143m (469 feet) while the western summit reaches 140m (459 feet). Once part of the Balgay Estate of the Scott family, the land was acquired by Dundee Corporation in 1870 and now comprises a public park in the east and a cemetery in the west. Balgay House once lay immediately to the south, a site now occupied by the Royal Victoria Hospital.
